Skill seekers

The MSA Society’s Skill Seekers Program aims to enhance employability and life skills through engaging and interactive learning opportunities.

About The Program

The program comprises two main components: Fine Arts and Culinary Arts.

Research has revealed a strong link between fine arts participation and the development of transferable skills essential for employment, such as self-confidence, time management, effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

The Culinary Arts component offers hands-on experience to enhance the hospitality skills of persons served. To this end, MSA has introduced monthly soup preparations and summer BBQs. These activities have become cornerstone events, focusing on the development of a wide range of skills, including: themed meals, recipe research, budgeting, shopping, food preparations, cooking, set-up, take down and hospitality.

The Skill Seeker program promotes individual development, input and self-direction in a non-threatening and engaging environment that combines both culinary arts and fine arts opportunities. The combination of these two skills set areas will increase the individual’s overall sense of self-worth and employability.
